Arm Day Necessary?

by Vladi
If you are reading this article you are probably wondering whether you should add a separate arm day to your current routine. The answer is: NO for the following reasons.

1. The arms are a small muscle group that takes a lot of beating during compound exercises.

2. Arm day may cause serious over-training injuries including nasty elbow pain.

3. You don't need an arm day in order to get bigger arms.

4. An arm day usually consists of isolation exercises which will never be as effective as compounds. More on this here.

5.  The reason Ronnie Coleman has an arm day does not mean you should have one.

6. Most people don't perform elbow friendly triceps exercises.

Don't bother with an extra arm day. Train biceps with back/pulling day and triceps on pushing/chest/shoulders day. It's that simple and this approach will save you a lot of injuries. Focus on compound exercises and perform only a few isolation movements.
