You Got Served: Beat The World Review
by Rusi
First of all I would like to say that this is my personal view on that particular movie and you obviously have the right to disagree with me.
It's pretty hot today. It got even hotter after watching You Got Served : Beat The World. If I can describe the movie with a few words they would be - beautiful actors, mediocre screenplay, fresh dancing, wannabe characters, decent soundtrack and predictable ending. Let's discuss all of those points.
The biggest strength of You Got Served and all similar movies are the attractive actors and their aggressive behavior. Let's face it - even a kid won't have a hard time figuring out the mediocre screenplay. It's like every single word and action is expected and more than predictable. So, you can expect to know the story and the end of the movie after 10 -15 minutes, maybe less. At the same time I can't blame the screen writers so much because today's movies are more about sexy looks, effects and most of all they have a certain audience. In this case - dancers, hip-hop lovers, teenagers...etc.
I won't go in details about the screenplay. After all if you are older than second grade you know what to expect - BIG competition, a lot of crews (from all over the world), the bad boy wins it all..etc.
Like I said this type of films have to be aggressive and by aggressive I mean - great stunts, dancing, arrogant behavior and so on. And you can find all that in You Got Served. That's the most attractive part of the movie. It's just fresh. This particular part of the series has introduced new element to the hip-hop game - free running. So if you are fan Yamakasi you will probably enjoy this movie too.
To be honest my favorite thing about You Got Served is the soundtrack. It's just too fucking good. My favorite song is Choclair - Made (Move Mountains) - very inspiring.
The rest of the OST fits perfectly too. If you are a hip-hop fan you will like. Although I know there are hip-hop wannabes that may say it ain't underground enough. Well, in that case listen to Arctic rap in order to be original and to avoid commercial projects.
As far as dancing goes I don't know too much. Off course I tried bboying when I was in high school but to me I was all about power moves and didn't really care about the style elements which are found in abundance here. Anyway I've watched tons of breakdance showcases on youtube and I can say that You Got Served brings it. You will be pleased especially with the performance of Flying Steps.
In conclusion watch You Got Served if your energy levels are down and you love dancing. You won't be dissapointed unless you like thriller screenplays.
